Empirical Research
A study conducted by Shakked Noy and Whitney Zhang of MIT looked at how the use of ChatGPT affected the productivity and quality of business document writing by experienced business professionals from different fields, such as salespeople, grant writers, project analysts, and business analysts. data and human resources professionals.

Each study participant had to write two business papers related to her field without the help of AI in the first round. In the second round, half of the participants were randomly assigned to use ChatGPT to write a second document while the other half did so conventionally.
Papers were rated for quality on a scale of 1 to 7 by three independent raters who were business professionals in the same field as the author, without disclosing whether or not they had used ChatGPT.

Using ChatGPT significantly increased productivity by 59%, as professionals who used AI took an average of 17 minutes to produce their delivery, while those who did not use it took 27 minutes. This equates to professionals using ChatGPT being able to produce in a typical 8 hour business day, 28.3 documents compared to 17.7 documents produced without the help of AI.
Document quality also improved when ChatGPT was used, with an average rating of 4.5 out of 7, compared to an average rating of 3.8 without the AI.
