N5 Now CEO explores technological evolution and the human role at Fintech Americas 2025

With more than 30 years of experience in innovation, including his time at Banco Santander, Colombo shared with Vanessa Carranza in El Campanazo how technology is transforming interaction with financial services and what the future holds.
“The financial sector has always been an engine of innovation,” Colombo said, tracing a line from the first ATM in 1969 to the mobile era. “Now, artificial intelligence (AI) is the next big step.”

Colombo highlighted three milestones: ATMs that distributed information, the internet that brought banking to the home, and the mobile phone that made it ubiquitous. “AI will democratize empathy in financial services,” he predicted, underscoring his keynote at the event about an emerging role: the “commander of artificial intelligence.” This position, which does not yet exist, will manage AI to offer human advice, combining technology with confidence and warmth. “We all want to be treated sympathetically, and technology is close to achieving that,” he said.

With experience in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and Banco Santander, Colombo brought an entrepreneurial approach to N5 Now. “I learned how to manage teams, prioritize what’s important and value reputation,” he explained. Preparing for the future
How should financial institutions adapt? “Go back to basics: empathy and customer value,” Colombo recommended, citing the “law of indie”—new objects age fast, but the essentials endure. ” AI will optimize, but human connection will still be key.”
