An open conversation on digital transformation, artificial intelligence and the journey behind N5 — from Miami to the world

Key highlights from the interview:
Rethinking the human role in the age of AI
According to Julián, one of the biggest challenges in the years ahead will be understanding what role humans will play in an increasingly automated banking ecosystem. While AI is ideal for operational tasks, strategic decisions — such as long-term investment or credit — still require human input. Striking the right balance between technology and empathy is where the true turning point lies.
From corporate life to solo entrepreneurship
With more than two decades of experience in institutions like Banco Santander, Julián shared how the leap into entrepreneurship was unexpected but essential. Founding N5 alone, without co-founders, brought challenges that he describes as a journey marked by resilience, autonomy and a strong sense of purpose.
AI as a structural revolution
Beyond the hype, Julián sees AI as the most transformative technological shift since the Enlightenment. At N5, artificial intelligence is not treated as a trend or a side project, but as a core organizational capability — one that must be implemented ethically, strategically and with measurable impact from day one.
Three strategic pillars for N5’s future
The interview also revealed N5’s main strategic focuses for the coming years:
Scaling through global partnerships: expanding the platform’s reach via a strong network of international partners.
Deeper AI integration: embedding artificial intelligence across every layer of the N5 Now platform.
Operational simplification: helping banks overcome “technological entropy” by delivering full implementations in as little as 100 days.
Governance and continuous learning
Julián also shared his experience working with N5’s board and top-tier investors — including Illuminate Financial, Exor Ventures, Madrone Capital Partners, LTS Investments, Arpex Capital, Alexia Ventures and Scale-up Ventures. For him, success is built on listening with humility, learning fast and adjusting course when needed, always surrounded by brilliant minds with a shared purpose.
