It is difficult for us to perceive in what sense this is a revolution. These transformations, which seemed to be aimed at people with enormous resources or technology specialists, are beginning to be everyday tools for many companies.

Sometimes, when we think of AI, we only imagine a chat. But that’s just a sample of what this new technology has to offer.

For that reason, knowing the particular experience of someone who uses it in their work could give us a closer notion of the size of the change that is coming.

Chronicle of Juan, bank executive, 42 years old.

It’s 8:57 in the morning. The first meeting is just around the corner.

The executive opens his computer with a familiar expectation: an overflowing inbox, unhierarchical to-dos, information scattered across multiple systems. For years, that was the opening scene of almost any day in a financial institution.

But something is starting to run.

On the screen there is no accumulation, but synthesis. Three prioritized customers. One that requires urgent contact. Another with an open opportunity. A third party whose history advises caution. There is no prior search or manual reconstruction: the information is organized in advance.

It is not a minor change, even if it occurs in silence.

For a long time, artificial intelligence in banking operated on a secondary plane: automation of tasks, predefined responses, optimization of specific processes. Efficiency, yes, but without altering the logic of daily work too much.

What is beginning to emerge now is something else: systems that not only respond, but anticipate, structure and accompany decisions.

Before the first call, the executive rehearses. Not because it is mandatory, but because it is possible. On the other side there is no client, but there is a sufficiently accurate representation: the system reproduces probable behaviors, frequent objections, moods inferred from history.

The conversation progresses. There are interruptions, doubts, uncomfortable moments. At the end, comes the evaluation: what worked, what should be adjusted. Practice, in this context, ceases to be theoretical.

Later, between meetings, a common query arises: a piece of information that, at another time, would have involved navigating different systems or depending on a third party. This time it appears integrated, without friction.

This is not new information. It is the same as always, but accessible in a different way.

Behind the scenes there is not a single tool, but a set of systems that operate in a coordinated way: some organize and prioritize information, others train skills, others connect historically fragmented data sources. And, on top of that structure, layers that order the interaction between all of them.

Some tech companies are developing this approach. Among them, N5, which specializes in the financial industry, works on the idea that these agents – rather than replacing tasks – reconfigure the way decisions are made.

The effect, seen from the outside, may seem discreet.

The work remains, in essence, the same: meetings, conversations, evaluations. But the context changes. Less time spent gathering information, more time interpreting it. Less improvisation, more preparation.

The transformation advances gradually, almost imperceptibly, integrated into the folds of routine.

At 6:12 p.m., the day ends.

They are still pending. As always.

But something in the way they are traveled is no longer exactly the same.

If this were what is left, there would be a big change. But tomorrow, when the executive sits down in front of the computer, there will surely be a list of new functions that AI conquered and will soon be in his hands.

AI: the bottomless toolbox.
